Vacuum Excavation – “Soft Dig”

The theory behind vacuum excavation is simple it digs a hole in the ground by penetrating hard soil with pressurized water to break up the soil. The loose soil is then vacuumed through a hose into a collection tank for later disposal. In this way, a pothole (an industry term that refers to digging a small hole to physically view underground utilities)
Soft Dig
Once the locator has located the utilities, the soft dig vacuum truck comes on site to expose the service. It does this as a function of introducing a large vacuum force and either air or water to displace the soil and place in into the 3,000litre spoil tank. No waste or spoil is left at the point of excavation. Ideal for those situations where the spoil has odour or would add the the size of the barricaded work site. This then reduces the risk of damage to the underground utilitities as it gently removes the surrounding soil to expose the buried underground services, this way there is less chance of damage to other utilities when excavation equipment is being used on site.
It is much more time effective than hand auguring and less risk of Manual handling injuries reducing occupational Health & Safety issues for staff.
