ELS has been awarded a subcontractor works package by NetworX for the management of existing underground utility locations / NDD at the Springvale Level Crossing Removal Project
The Victorian Premier, the Hon Denis Napthine MP has announced NetworX as the preferred proponent for the Springvale Level Crossing Removal Project.
NetworX, comprising McConnell Dowell, Balfour Beatty Rail, Parsons Brinckerhoff and Beca, will join VicRoads, PTV and MTM in an Alliance to design and build the project.
The project will remove the level crossing from Springvale Road by lowering the rail line beneath the road. This will improve safety, reduce congestion and decrease vehicle travel times along Springvale Road. A station will be built below road level and with a forecourt that will act as a pivot point and orientation space for the public by linking the four quadrants of Springvale in a vibrant and visible fashion.
NetworX Alliance General Manager Peter Fraser said, ‘this is a great opportunity to use infrastructure improvements to reinvigorate Springvale.’
This project will significantly improve transport network efficiency, facilitate commercial activity and be a catalyst for the creation of a well-connected, vibrant and safer community in Springvale.
Construction is scheduled to begin in June with an anticipated completion by the end of 2014.
